Metadata is a hot topic in technical documentation and is regularly discussed in presentations, articles and blog posts like this one. Interest in metadata in our industry therefore cannot be ignored, but why is this? Buzz words like “intelligent content”, “Industry 4.0”, “content delivery”, “PI class”, “iiRDS” and “artificial intelligence” are on everyone’s lips. These topics come up in different contexts, yet time and again all of them can be traced back to one common denominator – this ominous metadata. Who or what is it? Where does it come from? Who sent it? Does it come in peace? Will it take over the world? And what do I do if there doesn’t appear to be any of it? You’ll find out the answers to all these questions in this blog article! You only need a few things for content delivery with SCHEMA: SCHEMA ST4, SCHEMA CDS, modular content and metadata. To tell you the truth, SCHEMA ST4 is not absolutely necessary here, but that’s a discussion for another time. For a long time now, SCHEMA ST4 has been your tool for creating intelligent modular content with taxonomies and metadata. One upload to the Content Delivery Server later and your content is also available via mobile apps or the browser, where it can be filtered according to target group. There are now some new features awaiting you in SCHEMA ST4 and SCHEMA CDS which make this process even smoother. Continue reading

This article will present ways in which to achieve seamless automation and integration of this process with the aid of machine learning and WebHooks. Continue reading
From 24th to 26th October 2017, the ICS in Stuttgart again threw open its doors to the TD sector, and we were thrilled to attend once more.
With 4,300 participants and more than 250 presentations, workshops, tutorials and tool presentations, the tekom annual conference is clearly still the main event in the industry. With Intelligent Information and the newly developed standard iiRDS for interactive content delivery at the forefront of the conference, the focus this year was firmly on the future of information preparation, distribution and exchange: exciting topics that are becoming increasingly unavoidable in the field of technical writing. Each passing day brings us closer to the 2017 tekom conference in Stuttgart. At SCHEMA we are preparing particularly thoroughly for one topic: iiRDS – Intelligent Information Request and Delivery Standard. This standard is set to become a milestone in the world of documentation, since it enables technical information to be exchanged easily, no matter who the manufacturer or what kind of device you have. Our training centre has once again opened its doors, and once again our SCHEMA Graduate Academy – held for the fifth time – was met with resounding success! Over two and a half days, 12 students got to know SCHEMA as a company and the products ST4 and CDS in detail.
But why are young people studying technical writing? Why are students so enthusiastic about component content management systems and why is metadata so important for our future? Marlis Größel spoke with us to answer all these questions and much more besides. Continue reading
The tekom annual conference 2015 in Stuttgart is over, a fact we regard with one laughing and one weeping eye, since we SCHEMANIANS always like going to the most important fair for the area of technical documentation. Our fair booth team works together seamlessly, and we get to meet existing and potential customers, partners, and friends. We discuss and celebrate together, everybody has the same tired feet, and after the second day at the latest everybody is looking forward to “normal life” outside the fair halls. Continue reading
